homes exhibiting collections of dolls (Ningyo) of the ancient Oriental court. The dolls are not toys, but memories of family, wearing gorgeous costumes and exquisitely crafted, special pieces, ancient and modern, can be extremely valuable. The Hagoita , wooden poles used for an old game for girls, dolls are decorated with brocade in bas-relief depicting Kabuki actors. Derived in part from the Kofun period Haniwa figurines, dolls were used for a long time in Japan as talismans and have a prominent place in popular Japanese. The first examples were the kokeshi wooden, cylindrical in shape, while models refined products are still in Kyoto, Hakata, Saga.
